Walking with Jesus Series (in Krio)
A mini-series designed to have new followers of Isa al Masih grow in their relationship with Christ.
1. Assurance of Salvation
Video Description
An entire African village gathers in a square at sunset. There’s a large screen and a projector. Those gathered watch the JESUS film. They shake their heads and cry as they watch Him being crucified.
When the movie ends, the chief of the village quietly speaks with the teacher and wants to know more about Jesus. He accepts that Jesus died for his sins. But when he gets home, he starts to think about Jesus’s sacrifice and the severity of the punishment for his sins. And he’s not so sure he’s actually been forgiven of everything anymore.
The teacher tells the chief that if he has truly accepted Jesus as his Savior from his sins and confessed that belief, he’s saved. No matter what he’s done.
The wives of the chief look for the teacher and ask him about Jesus.
He tells one of the wives that if she believes Jesus sacrificed Himself for her and confesses her belief, she can have eternal life. The chief reads from the Torah and teaches his own household about following Jesus with complete devotion. People start to see his changed life in the village.
Discussion Questions
- According to the teacher, how does someone become a believer in Jesus?
- What makes the chief doubt his salvation? What does the teacher tell him?
- How can you know that you have been saved?
2. Fellowship of Believers
Video Description
The village meets together to worship and learn about God. The teacher encourages them with the story of Zacchaeus.
Jesus invited himself to eat at Zacchaeus’s house. When Zacchaeus had been around Jesus for the night, he offered to give back all he had stolen from the villagers.
The chief goes to see a man whom he had wronged, Yosef. Yosef decides the religion the chief and his own son are a part of is a bad thing because the chief is a bad man. He won’t let his son be a part of the religion anymore. But the chief insists that Jesus told him to give back the land and apologize. Yosef can’t believe it. But the chief claims Jesus is the Chief of chiefs, in charge of his life. The chief pleads for Yosef to allow his son to come to the meetings.
The chief asks about his wives and loving them equally. The teacher tells him about God’s plan for marriage. He insists that the chief take care of his wives with the grace of God, but asks that he not take any more wives.
At the next meeting, a woman shares that Jesus has cared for her loneliness by sending two women to show her love, share Jesus, and ask her to the meetings. Yosef sees the meeting from the outside, but refuses to come in. The chief spends the rest of his time giving back all that he has taken from others.

3. The Holy Spirit
Video Description
Two boys get into a fight and the teacher’s called. He takes one of them and is going to clean him up, but the boy runs away. His mother scolds him for fighting again and cleans him up. She doesn’t see a change in him.
The teacher finds him at his house. The boy tells him that he tries not to fight, but they make fun of him. They fight him because he accepted Jesus. The teacher reminds him that Jesus taught to love your enemies.
The teacher tells him about two kinds of Christians. The first kind tries to keep control of his own life, despite what God tells him to do. The other kind is empowered by the Holy Spirit. He lets Jesus live the Christian life in and through him. The second kind lives his life by faith and obeys. He surrenders.

The boys go see the teacher and ask him what he did to the boy to make him so different. The teacher and the boy tell them about Jesus. The teacher says God’s part is filling us with the Spirit and our part is submitting to the Holy Spirit. The boys want their life to be different and accept Jesus.

5. Growing in Christ
Video Description
Walking with Jesus isn’t always easy. There will be spiritual battles. The women of the village talk about their fears and their own battles. The believers encourage someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus to trust Him.
Yousef and the teacher talk about habits that were formed before becoming a believer. When our lives have been handed to Jesus, we have to continue to grow and give everything over to Him. That can be done by reading the Torah, listening to it being read, and praying alone and together with a fellowship. The teacher encourages Yosef to ask God for things that will be good for him and do things that will glorify God.
Discussion Questions
- What battles do the characters experience in this story?
- How does a Christian soldier prepare himself for spiritual battle?
- How do you think these battles build us up for a more faithful and victorious walk with Jesus?
